WILSON, N.C. - A woman is in critical condition after being severly beaten.
James Anthony Bynum was arrested early Thursday morning at the scene of the beating.
Police responded to a call on Suggs Street early Thursday in reference to a woman possibly endangered.
When police arrived, they found the woman unresponsive due to a head injury. Bynum was standing beside her.
Bynum was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and is in jail under a $250,000 bond.
The victim is in critical condition in Pitt Memorial Hospital. Her name is not being released at this time.
