WALLACE, N.C. -  Residents of North and South Carolina will join Hope For The Warriors® and the River Landing Community to honor and remember American heroes in:  Hope For The Warriors® 9/11 Weekend, an event to honor those lost in the attacks of 9/11 and the military heroes that have been called into action since.  Events are planned for the entire weekend and include a music festival with country star James Wesley.  Proceeds from the weekend will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen.  Pepsi and CVS are the presenting sponsors for the Hope For The Warriors® 9/11 Weekend.

The highlight of the weekend will be on Saturday, September 10 with a music festival and memorial ceremony held at The Vineyards of River Landing. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. The festival headliner is country performer James Wesley, singer of the hit singles Didn’t I and  Real. Since his debut in the country music community, Wesley has been involved in a myriad of charity projects and local tours.

Tickets can be purchased on line at  www.hopeforthewarriors.org.  Adult tickets sell for $15 each and children 12 and under are $7.50 each.  Tickets can also be purchased in Wallace, NC at Village Store and the Mad Boar or in Jacksonville, NC at the New River Harley Davidson and at PostNet.  Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.

"I am honored to perform for this event," Wesley said.  "We should remember our American heroes and their families every day. Our military and service men and woman have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. I am looking forward to performing for them."

Southern Fried Musicians Association will also be playing that evening. The band’s drummer, Staff Sgt. Dale Beatty, NCARNG (Ret.) served in Iraq and was injured by a roadside landmine. Since his rehabilitation from a double amputation and return to the band, they have been performing and writing music consistently.  Local rock band, Bald Fury will also perform.

“We are proud and excited for this weekend of honor and tribute to our military heroes” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® President said. “Although this was a tragic event in our history, we learned the strength of our police and fire fighters that day.  And since that day, we have seen the dedication of our military forces who continue to enlist and serve proudly.”

The concert is just one of the events planned for the weekend.  The 9/11 Hope Classic golf tournament will be held on the championship golf courses of River Landing. Golfers will include wounded service members from surrounding military installations. One day memberships are available for the families of those in the tournament, and will allow access to swimming facilities and other activities. A small reception and awards ceremony will conclude the event.

The 9/11 Run For The Warriors® 5K Run/Walk will wind through the picturesque landscape of the community, beginning and ending at River Landing Fitness Center. Participating in this event will be wounded members of Team Hope For The Warriors ®. Breakfast will be available for both golfers and runners at River Landing Club House.

“The River Landing community considers it a privilege and honor to host the 2011 Hope For The Warriors® 9/11 Weekend” Richard Phaneuf, The River Landing Companies General Manager said.  “It is humbling to work alongside the amazing staff at Hope For The Warriors® with unity of purpose:  to honor and support those who have and are continuing to serve and defend our great nation.”
