Lejeune Marines to take part in "Bold Alligator" exercise

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Marines and Sailors from Virginia to North Carolina are testing their abilities to quickly plan and respond to a variety of crises over the next three weeks.

In a training exercise called "Bold Alligator", about 2,300 Marines, based out of Camp Lejeune, are preparing for a deployment this spring.

The amphibious operation is aimed at testing a full range of forces; ground, air and sea.

It's the largest naval amphibious exercise in the past decade.
