Newport men arrested for numerous vehicle break-ins

NEWPORT, N.C. - Three men are behind bars for a number of vehicle break-ins.

19-year-old Jaleel Evans, 17-year-old Derien Medders, and 17-year-old Forrest Mercer were charged January 30th.

Newport Police say their arrests follow an investigation into vehicle break-ins on Roy Court, South Lakeview, Newport Circle, and the New Bern St. areas of Newport.

Officers say some of the stolen items have been recovered and they're still working to identify other items reported missing and recovered.

If you live in the affected area and have missing propery from a vehicle, you're urged to contact Officer Ty Mann with the Newport Police Department.
