RALEIGH, N.C. - A joint investigation has led to the arrest of a Perquimans County man on drug charges.
It happened Thursday in Hertford.
29-year-old Walter Allen Norman is charged with trafficking 12 ounces of cocaine possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He's under a $1.5 million bond.
Norman has been in and out of prison on prior drug and firearm convictions and breaking and entering. He was last released from supervision in January 2011.
A search of his residence yielded a block of cocaine valued at more than $18,000, thousands of dollars in cash and four firearms.
“It was good to have neighboring agencies and state agencies working together to get the job done,” said Perquimans Sheriff Eric Tilley. “My hat’s off to all of them for the work they did in removing this dealer from the street.”
“One of our primary objectives is to partner with local law enforcement agencies to combat illegal narcotics in local communities.” ALE Director John Ledford said. “ALE is committed to removing criminal activity from our communities.”
