OAK CITY, N.C. – Troopers say speed was a factor in a fatal accident in Martin County.
It happened off Highway 111 near Old Cotton Road near Oak City around 12:30 Tuesday morning. The intersection is about two miles away from the victim's home.
Troopers say 27-year-old James Boyette was thrown from his SUV after it flipped.
They say he wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene.
Troopers say Boyette was driving between 65 and 75 miles an hour in a 55 mile an hour zone.
