WILLIAMSTON, N.C. -- More than two years ago Martin County Deputy Charlie Brown was killed in a shootout and now a foundation started in his name needs your help.
Saturday is the second annual Charlie Brown Emergency Services Gospel Concert. It’s at the Martin County Auditorium on the Riverside High School campus in Williamston. The concert is free but a love offering will be accepted to support the foundation’s scholarship program.
The concert will feature the Gold City quartet out of Dahlonega, Georgia. They’ll be joined by the Steadfast Quartet from eastern North Carolina. Concessions will be available. There will also be a special raffle.
The foundation was started after the December 2009 death of Deputy Brown. He was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call in Williamston. The foundation awards a $1,000 scholarship to two high school seniors in Martin County who plan to get their degree in a public safety related field.
