GREENVILLE, N.C. - Today is Valentine’s Day. And today, the sweethearts were all over the place.
If you were out and about, you know that it felt like Christmas Eve with all of the last minute shoppers shopping to show how much they love their significant other.
Last minute is not a friend to Tyrone Trapp. He waited a little bit to long to get an Edible Arrangement for his girlfriend.
“I was trying to get her some Edible Arrangements, but I’m kind of late with the order so, I have to substitute that. So what are you going to do now? I still have other plans. I’m going to follow through with those, be spontaneous,” said Trapp.
With experience on his side, John Walker did get his wife an Edible Arrangement. He ordered a couple of weeks in advance for one of his yearly gifts.
“You got her the Edible Arrangement, what did you get him,” 9 On Your Side asked Margaret Walker.
“I got him some boxers that had kisses on it, but they were too big. And, a card, and the new addition to the family! Oh, a dog,” she answered.
There wasn't a sale going on at the Pitt County Court house, but there were more people shopping there than usual.
Couples about to tie the knot picked Valentine’s Day to buy their marriage licenses.
“I just thought it would be kind of romantic. We're getting our marriage license and our rings today,” said Stephanie Murdock & Brad Foster, who bought marriage license today.
“Valentine’s Day is kind of a special day, it means love,” said Deborah Barrington, Pitt County Register of Deeds.
Not only did they buy their marriage license this Valentine’s Day, but Byres Harris and his fiancée Yolanda became man and wife.
It's so special that Magistrate Cheryl Jordan came in just to handle all the Valentine’s Day marriages.
“This isn't the most romantic spot on the planet, but it is not but we try to make due by coming out here and making it a little more personal than doing it through the window,” said Jordan. “It's romance. They haven't seemed to mind it doing it here.”
For Byres and Yolanda, this was the perfect gift for their perfect day.
“I’m happy, I’m happy, and thank you all, thank God,” said Byres Harris.
Incidentally, they needed a second witness so 9 On Your Side was one of the witnesses for the Harris' today.
They are going to continue their celebration tonight.
And if you still haven’t gotten that perfect gift yet, you can always try one of the many Valentine’s apps.
