NEW BERN, N.C. - A gas leak at a local high school kept students out of the building Wednesday morning.
School spokesperson Mark Dail tells 9 On Your Side crews were repairing a deep fryer in the school kitchen when they ruptured a gas line around 9:15 a.m.
Dails says students were immediately evacuated while firefighters arrived to conduct air samples.
It took about 20-25 minutes for firefighters to deem it safe for students.
Dail says the school is back on schedule for lunch and that overall the event turned into a "non-incident."
