Update: Power restored to Kinston residents

KINSTON, N.C. - Officials with the City of Kinston say around 8,000 residents lost power this morning.

Kinston Public Services tell us around 6:30 a.m. a jumper failed on a distribution line on Hull Road. A fire was reported at  substation.

Initially, the outage plunged 8,000 people into the dark. 

Within 30 to 40 minutes, power was restored to all but 1,000.

Right now, crews have restored power to all who lost it earlier this morning.
