LAS VEGAS (WNCT) -- It's the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which is the world's largest electronics trade show. It's also the best place to see what's going to be hot this year.
Crews are preparing for more than a tech convention, they’re building the future. More than 2,700 companies from 130 countries will premier their latest gadgets on Monday at the annual consumer electronics show.
"I think it helps generate a lot of buzz and excitement and everyone kind of gets into it. It also helps generate new ideas for everyone in the industry," said
Christopher Yang of Vivitech. Yang's company sells projectors that convert your
2D games and movies into 3D. It's one of about 200,000 products pitched this
week.
"One of the big themes we're seeing here is the television becoming the center of the media hub. You don't need a laptop or a video game console anymore, you could do everything from a TV game and buy and purchase media from that television set as well," Brian Tong, senior editor of CNET.
Other hot items include super slim laptops, known as ultra books. There's also the indestructible cell phone case, hovering spaceship and even a mobile robot.
"Some of the gadgets that we see here, some of them come out this year, some of them come out next year, and some of them don't come out at all, so you just have to cross your fingers and hope the gadget you like and love will be the one you'll able to play and buy down the road,” Tong said.
While not everyone's gizmo makes it to the market, getting feedback here may lead to an improved model that might be a top pick next year.
