ROSEWOOD, N.C. - A 100-year-old church bell is back where it belongs and three people are charged in its theft.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says that it happened December 30th.
A witness reported that he and another church member spotted a vehicle drive from behind the church and past the pair.
Investigation into the incident showed the theft had just occurred. A concerned citizing reported an item matching the description of the bell at a local metal dealer.
Further leads led to the arrest of 21-year-old Brett Michael Warren, 20-year-old Heather Michelle Barnes, and 22-year-old Santonio Monquil James. They're each charged with felony larceny among other charges.
The bell valued at $2,000 was recovered slightly damaged and returned to the church.
