GREENVILLE, N.C. - In case you haven't filled up your case tank recently, gas prices are up.
In fact, they’re at historic highs for this time of year.
According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas is at $3.39, that's 29 cents more per gallon than this time last year.
Here in North Carolina, we're paying a little more than that at $3.43 a gallon, which is up 3 cents from a week ago.
Experts say the recent spike in prices is already forcing people to change their lifestyle.
Analysts believe the average family is now spending about ten percent of the household monthly budget on gas.
As for gas prices in the east, the cheapest gas in Greenville is $3.37 at the Wilco-Hess on Greenville Boulevard.
Then in Jacksonville, its $3.35 a gallon at the Wilco-Hess on Western Boulevard and Gum Branch Road.
Over in Kinston, its $3.39 at the Energy Fuels on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
And in New Bern, its $3.37 at the Exxon on Broad Street.
Finally, in Washington its $3.39 at the Travel Story on North Bridge Street.
