BAYBORO, N.C. - A major rebuilding effort is scheduled for late May to help Pamlico County recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
On Tuesday, Eight Days of Hope (EDOH), a national volunteer organization that specializes in rebuilding homes in communities that have been devastated by natural disasters, made the announcement on American Family Radio.
THe Pamlico County Disaster Recovery Coalition says its president Dawn Baldwin-Gibson received the phone call from EDOH president Stephen Tybor, III a week ago confirming the group’s unanimous decision to come to eastern North Carolina.
Volunteers from across the nation will join together May 26th through June 2nd to work on a significant number of homes in the county.
Eastern Carolina is scheduled will be its ninth recovery effort.
Tybor said he expected, "Around 1,500 volunteers will travel to this great state with over 50 percent of these volunteers being electricians, carpenters, licensed contractors and tradesman ready to help those in need. We are excited to show the love of Christ through the gifts He has blessed us with. Eight Days of Hope’s goal is to bring hope to those who are still waiting and to help them rebuild their homes.”
