POLLOCKSVILLE, N.C. - There's no foul play in a Jones County death reported Wednesday.
That's the determination following an autopsy and thorough investigation of the scene.
Deputies in Jones County called in the SBI to help with the investigation 8 o'clock Wednesday.
They spent most of the day at the house at 189 Killis Murphy Road in Pollocksville.
Captain J.T. J.T. Eimer says because the sheriff's office doesn't have its own investigations unit, it’s not unusual for them to call the SBI for help.
A neighbor off camera says a woman named Gladys Perkins lived alone in the house; she was in her late 70s or early 80s and that she had heart problems and diabetes.
9 On Your Side was at the scene when a man rode up on his bicycle. He was very emotional, saying his grandmother was inside the house.
A neighbor also says Perkins' son is the one who found her inside the house this morning when he came to take her to her doctor's appointment.
The case will remain open pending the results of further tests by the Medical Examiners Office.
