KINSTON, N.C. (AP) - A Lenoir County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a plot that saw guns stolen from private homes in five counties and sold on the black market.
The Free Press of Kinston reports (http://bit.ly/yHkwDc ) that Bill Martin Ellison accepted a plea deal on Tuesday. His co-conspirator, Demarco Becton, pleaded guilty last year.
Investigators say 24-year-old Becton stole the guns from homes in Duplin, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow and Wayne counties. They were then sold by 42-year-old Ellison.
Police say they're not sure how many guns the men stole and sold, or how much money they made from the plot.
In addition to guns, investigators say video game systems, flat-screen TVs, jewelry and other personal possessions were stolen from the homes.
