GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) -- East Carolina University released a report on recommendations for several programs at the school. Those programs were looked at for elimination, reduction or investment.
The report says 277 programs were looked at in all with 48 of those are being targeted for reduction or elimination. 67 programs are being considered for additional investment.
School officials say they have been looking at those programs since last year and have gotten input from faculty at several points during the year. Several programs on the chopping block were already in the process of “winding down” according to the report.
The programs on the chopping block range from undergrad to graduate programs in several departments. The report was released by the Program Prioritization Committee. ECU Chancellor Steve Ballard says he deemed the report ready for release.
ECU took a 16.1-percent budget cut and already cut 200 jobs.
