GREENVILLE, N.C. - A man with a history of eluding police, more than seven times, sent troopers on a 17 mile chase Saturday morning.
A Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop 51-year-old James Moore, Jr. on Memorial Drive in Greenville after noticing his license plate was not fastened correctly and he didn't have insurance, but Moore didn't stop.
He made his way up Highway 43 North then made a u-turn and came back into Greenville.
Troopers say the chase reached speeds of as much as 75 miles per hour outside of Greenville.
Moore was eventually boxed in on Evans street after other law enforcement officials responded. He attempted to get out of his car and run, but was caught.
He's been charged with felony speed to elude arrest, reckless driving, and insurance and tag violation.
Moore was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center under a $17,000 bond.
Records show Moore was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon back in July 2011.
