PAMLICO SOUND, N.C. - Here's some amazing video from Pamlico Sound from the weekend! A Coast Guard helicopter crew lifted three people from the water after their boat ran aground near Rawls Island on Saturday.
The boaters were in a 26-foot sailboat when they put in a mayday call to Coast Guard watch standers. The helicopter arrived around 2:45 p.m. At first they couldn't reach the boat because of shallow water. So the boaters were lifted up and later taken to Air Station Elizabeth City where they were met by medical personnel.
