KINSTON, N.C. - A woman was hit and killed by a van Tuesday night on NC 11.

The State Highway Patrol says Robin Lee Star, a major with the Salvation Army, was driving a 2007 Dodge Caravan when 34-year-old Andrea Evette Moore of Kinston walked from Gulick Road onto NC 11 into the path of the van as it was traveling north.

It happened just after 8 p.m.

Troopers say they suspect alchol played a factor in the incident. They expect a toxicology report to be returned later Wednesday.
