SOMERS, Conn. (AP) A Connecticut man convicted in a deadly 2007 home invasion says he tries not to think about the crime and has nothing to say to the man whose wife and two daughters were killed. Joshua Komisarjevsky (koh-mih-sar-JEV'-ski) tells the AP he also has nothing to say to his co-defendant. The two men were sentenced to death for killing a woman and her two daughters after a night of terror in their suburban home.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Connecticut's education commissioner says work will begin immediately on some of the key provisions of a new, wide-ranging education overhaul bill. Governor Dannel Malloy officially signed the legislation into law today during a packed ceremony at the state Capitol.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) A fatal accident in southwestern Connecticut is prompting new calls for people not to use cellphones and other electronic devices while driving. A 16-year-old girl who police say was using her cellphone when she struck and killed a jogger in March now faces charges that include negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and using a handheld telephone under age 18 while driving. The accident killed 44-year-old Kenneth Dorsey of Norwalk.
BURLINGTON, Conn. (AP) State officials are investigating the discovery of a dead bear in the yard of a home in Burlington. WTIC radio reports that state police were called to the home on Cobblestone Drive at about 7:30 this morning. Troopers alerted the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which is investigating.
