WACO, Texas (AP) A federal jury has started deliberating in the trial of a Muslim soldier accused of planning to bomb a Texas restaurant filled with Fort Hood troops. Army Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo faces up to life in prison if convicted of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and five other charges. Authorities detained Abdo in the Fort Hood area last July while he was AWOL from Fort Campbell, Ky., his post.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) The state has released an employment update showing jobless rates fell in 110 counties in April. The latest figures unveiled by the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training today also show that nine other counties saw unemployment worsen and one county remained unchanged.

HENDERSON, Ky. (AP) The University of Kentucky Agriculture Weather Center is rating western Kentucky as being in a "severe" drought. The rating comes as the result of sparse rainfall in the last three weeks and soaring temperatures.
