BLAIR, S.C. (AP) The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is inviting the public to gather in Blair tonight to talk about the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. Officials are scheduled to talk about safety performance at the plant last year and explain inspections and oversight for the two new units.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) A relic hunter from Columbia has found a rare freedman's tag near Charleston that dates from the late 1700s. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Hal McGirt found the tag that belonged to a free person of color earlier this year at a plantation on the Cooper River.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Charleston Mayor Joe Riley and Mayor Daniele Benedetti of Spoleto, Italy will meet with reporters today to discuss the long-standing relationship between the cities as the annual Spoleto Festival USA approaches. Events involving the two cities include everything from cooking demonstrations and artist exchanges, to educational, cultural and trade trips.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Democratic state senators have failed to remove funding from the proposed 2012-13 budget for the voter ID lawsuit. Republicans say the law is about preventing voter fraud. The federal government blocked the law in December.
