Indians come up short in Tuesday night play

Kinston’s comeback came up short, as the K-Tribe fell 8-7 to Frederick Tuesday night at Grainger Stadium.  The K-Tribe trailed all game, spotting Frederick a 4-0 lead until Beau Mills hit a towering two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.  Kinston suffered through four errors leading to four unearned runs to help Frederick start fast.  Frederick extended their lead to 7-2 after five innings before the Indians bats woke up.  Kinston batted around in the bottom of the sixth, capitalizing on RBI singles by Todd Martin and Carlos RiveroAlex Castillo drew a walk with the bases loaded to cut the Kinston deficit to 7-5.  After Frederick scored a run in the seventh inning, Kinston pulled back within two runs with an RBI single from Mill in the bottom inning.  The score would stay 8-6 until the bottom of the ninth, when an RBI double by Rivero scored Mills, cutting the Keys lead to one.  With the tying run on third and two outs, Cirilo Cumberbatch bounced a grounder back to the mound to end the game.
 
K-Tribe pitcher Hector Rondon took the loss for Kinston, giving up five hits and three earned runs in three and two-thirds innings of work. Jack Renshaw got the win for Frederick.  Kinston is back in action Wednesday night at 7pm at Historic Grainger Stadium.
