CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Michael Jordan says the pressure is now on him, from an entertainment standpoint, to improve the Charlotte Bobcats.
That's because the Bobcats have finally secured a naming rights deal for their arena, and that deal comes with a new television contract.
The arena is now called Time Warner Cable Arena. As part of the deal, the team got out of a television contract that severely limited the team's reach.
Beginning with last night's game against Minnesota, the Bobcats' games are appearing on Fox Sports Net South, not Time Warner's news channel. Tonight's game at New York will be televised by FSN South's sister network, SportSouth.
Now the team hopes to finally succeed on the court. Charlotte is 30-48 after last night's victory over Minnesota and will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year.
Jordan is part-owner of the Bobcats.
