Merry Hill, NC (April 9, 2008) - There’s a lot happening on the golf course at Innsbrook Golf & Boat. First of all, it opens, officially, on Friday, May 9th with course designer and golf legend, Arnold Palmer, on site to dedicate the course. Also on hand for the opening will be Innsbrook’s new Head Golf Pro, Tim Dougherty. If you’ve played any golf around the Outer Banks, you probably already know the name. Tim has until recently been the Head Pro for Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores.
Tim and his family are excited to take on this new challenge on such a spectacularly designed and executed course. “I am truly honored to be affiliated with this venture,” says Tim “I’ve played the course a couple of times before I had even considered taking on the job and couldn’t believe how challenging and fun it was.”
Tim has a sports background that started in high school while attending Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk, VA. Tim loved basketball and golf and excelled in both. But when looking around for colleges, his strong high school golf credentials (1st Team All Conference for 4 years straight) got him a golf scholarship to Roanoke College in Salem, VA.
As a pro just starting out, Tim landed the job of Assistant Golf Pro at Sleepy Hole Golf Club in Suffolk and stayed there for a year until he landed the job of Assistant Golf Pro at Duck Woods Golf Course. In 2006, he was named that club’s Head Pro. While working on the Outer Banks, he and two other golf pros formed the Outer Banks Junior Golf Association to foster not only love of the sport, but also give kids the opportunity to get out and play. While at Duck Woods, Tim has won numerous awards and has managed to come in with an average score of 70 to 72 per round on that course.
He admits to be being ready for a new challenge. “My wife and I are very excited about our new adventure and feel blessed to be involved with Innsbrook. This is truly an incredible community and an unbelievable golf course.” Tim stated.
Bill Stillwagon, of Innsbrook stated that he, “couldn’t be happier about connecting with Tim. He has the right experience to help Innsbrook grow in stature as a top level golfcommunity and deliver the professional expertise that our new Innsbrook members are used to having. Tim’s quite aware of the commitment that an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course brings with it and the incredible draw it has for those who love the sport.”
Tim is married and has two young children. His wife, Nichole, a respected professional with Dare County’s Teen Court, Community Service and Restitution programs.
Next time you stop by the course, please stop in and say hello to Tim, he’s looking forward to getting to know all of the Innsbrook Golf members.
