(AP) - Congress wants to hear from baseball stars Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and their former trainer.
Brian McNamee has told former Senate majority leader George Mitchell he had injected Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner, in an interview that will be broadcast on CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday, said McNamee injected him with vitamins and painkillers but not performance-enhancing drugs. Pettitte admitted he used HGH twice while he was recovering from an injury.
The House Oversight Committee is asking the three to testify at a January 16th hearing.
Also invited to appear are the former Mets clubhouse attendant whose allegations were a central part of last month's Mitchell Report on doping in baseball. Former All-Star second baseman Chuck Knoblauch also was asked to speak to the panel.
The committee will also hear testimony from baseball commissioner Bud Selig, union leader Donald Fehr and Mitchell himself.
