Duke's Zoubek has broken foot; Pocius undergoes ankle surgery

»  Comments | Post a Comment

(AP) - Duke's Brian Zoubek is out indefinitely after breaking his foot during practice, and Martynas Pocius underwent season-ending ankle surgery Tuesday.

Zoubek likely won't require surgery to repair his broken left foot. He was injured during a workout Monday, one day after the 7-foot-1 sophomore center made his second start of the season during the No. 9 Blue Devils' 81-67 victory against Cornell.

He broke the same foot during a pickup game in July, had surgery two days later and missed 10 weeks.

Zoubek is leading the team with a 59.5 percent field-goal percentage.

Pocius averaged four points and two rebounds in four games. He originally injured his left ankle while playing in Lithuania over the summer and reinjured it Nov. 25 during a win against Eastern Kentucky.

The guard had a similar surgery on his right ankle after last season.

Duke plays Temple in Philadelphia tonight.
