(AP) - South Carolina Upstate got its first ever Atlantic Sun Conference win with a 73-59 victory over Gardner-Webb last night.
The Spartans never trailed in the final 26 minutes of the game and put the game away with an 8-2 run to open the second half that put them ahead 39-30.
S.C.-Upstate shot 50 percent from the field, compared to 36.4 percent for Gardner-Webb.
Mezie Uzochukwu and Jeremy Byrd each scored 14 points to lead the Spartans.
Thomas Sanders scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.
