(AP) - Greivis Vasquez scored 22 points to help lift Maryland out of the Atlantic Coast Conference cellar by beating Wake Forest 71-64.
Freshman reserve Adrian Bowie had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Terrapins (11-7, 1-2). Maryland began the night as one of only four winless ACC teams, and one of two with two losses.
Vasquez made half his 16 field-goal attempts, scored 15 points in the second half and finished with eight assists. He was coming off a 2-for-14 shooting performance in a loss at Virginia Tech.
Led by Ishmael Smith, Wake Forest scored seven straight points to get a 13-point Wake Forest deficit down to six, but a 3-pointer by Maryland's Landon Milbourne and two free throws by Osby stemmed the surge.
The Demon Deacons went 5-for-30 from 3-point range in losing for the fifth time in six road games. Smith led Wake Forest with 16 points.
