Wimbledon prize money going up by 6.2 percent

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) - Prize money is going up by 6.2 percent at Wimbledon this year.

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) - Prize money is going up by 6.2 percent at Wimbledon this year.
Tournament organizers say the total prize fund will be roughly $18.4 million for the June 22-July 5 tournament. That compares to $17.2 million last year.
The men's and women's champions will each receive $1.24 million, up 13.3 percent from last year's figure of about $1.1 million.
The All England Club also announced a five-year extension of its contract with IBM.
This year's tournament will feature the unveiling of a sliding roof over Centre Court.
