DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose says his biggest personal goal before the start of the season was to win the NBA rookie of the year award. Mission accomplished.
He joins Michael Jordan and Elton Brand as the only Bulls players to capture the award after averaging 16.8 points and 6.3 assists this season. He was the top assist man and No. 2 scorer among all first-year players.
Memphis guard O.J. Mayo was a distant second in the balloting by the media.
