Panthers hire TCU AD Morrison as team president

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — It didn't take Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson long to find a replacement for his son as team president.

Richardson hired Texas Christian University athletic director Danny Morrison on Wednesday. He'll take over for Mark Richardson, who abruptly resigned a day earlier along with his brother Jon, who ran Bank of America Stadium.

The 55-year-old Morrison's first involvement with the Panthers came in 1995, when he was AD at Wofford College, Richardson's alma mater and the site of Carolina's training camp. Morrison later became commissioner of the Southern Conference before going to TCU in 2005.

Morrison will run the day-to-day business operations of the franchise for Richardson, the 73-year-old owner who is recovering from a heart transplant.
