DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne captured the Daytona 500 qualifying races on Thursday and will start on the second row for NASCAR's premiere event Sunday.
Two-time winner Michael Waltrip was in jeopardy of not making the field in what is to be his final Daytona 500. He crashed during the first race, but earned a spot in the 43-car field by virtue of Scott Speed's 14th place finish in the second race.
