Dooley Says He's Not Coming Back To ECU

Eyewitness News 9 Sports has learned that former pirate coach Joe Dooley will not be returning to East Carolina as head basketball coach.

Eyewitness News 9 Sports has learned that former pirate coach Joe Dooley will not be returning for a second stint as head basketball coach at East Carolina.

Sources indicated that ECU officials and Dooley were in negotiations on Sunday. Dooley indicated via a tex message that it was against University of Kansas policy to discuss jobs, but that he would not be returning to East Carolina.

ECU Director of Athletics Terry Holland met with the media Sunday night. Holland would not confirm negotiations with Dooley, but he did indicate that the Kansas assistant was certainly a candidate for the job at that time.

Dooley is currently the Associate Head Coach at the University of Kansas.
