HAVELOCK, N.C. - It's playoff fever in eastern North Carolina!

A handful of high school football teams made it to the state championships.

One of them, Havelock High School Rams went undefeated all season and this weekend they'll be heading to Chapel Hill.

The town has come together like never before to support this team.

And driving around town just about everywhere you look are signs of support.

At city hall, the phones have been ringing off the hook with people wanting to know how they can support the team.

"It's been great fun to watch it especially with the social media it's so active,” said Diane Miller with the City of Havelock.

The Havelock Rams Facebook page has been instrumental for the team moms.

Members of the community upload photos, and one man even posts play by play commentary of each game.

And since Havelock is a military town, at least seven of the players have family members who are deployed.

"Many of them follow on facebook. One of our boys father follows from Japan," said Emily Paley, assistant team mom.

Joe Hailey is the president of the booster club.  Since 1972, he's attended every single Havelock high school football except one.

"This has been an unbelievable ride with this crew,” said Hailey. He helped put together a bus to Chapel Hill to allow fans to go along for the ride and support the rams on the road. "We only have a few seats left and if we were able to sell the bus out maybe later today or early tomorrow we have an option to add a second bus.”

When team mom Melisa Crowe posted online she needed donations to pay for a team dinner she received an overwhelming amount of support.

"It's just wonderful how the community has come together for this football team,” said Crowe.

Three local businesses donated the funds for the team meal and there are still a few tickets left for the bus. Those tickets cost $40 and the bus leaves Havelock High at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
