JAFFREY, N.H. (AP) - Warmer weather is expected Monday for a frozen Northeast.
An ice storm sliced through the area Friday, cutting power lines and forcing people from their unheated homes into shelters.
While more than half a million customers are still without power in upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, temperatures are expected to lift out of the frigid teens.
Utilities in hardest-hit New Hampshire said power might not be totally restored to the region until Thursday or Friday.
President Bush has declared a state of emergency for New Hampshire and nine of Massachusetts' 14 counties.
At least four deaths are blamed on the storm. Three people died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning from home generators. And the body of a Massachusetts public works supervisor who vanished while checking on storm damage was recovered from a reservoir.
