Expect partly cloudy skies and increasing west winds as a strong cold front crosses North Carolina today. Temperatures will reach the mid and upper 50s by 1pm before falling into the 40s by 5pm as cold air starts to arrive behind the front.
Tonight, bundle up! Temperatures will plummet to near 30 degrees by late tonight and wind chill values will be as low as the upper teens and low 20s first thing Wednesday morning. Wednesday will have highs only in the upper 30s (frigid compared to average early January highs in the low 50s!).
So, get ready for the cold snap! Milder air will return this coming weekend...
