Brisk northwest winds are delivering a fresh batch of cold Canadian air to Eastern Carolina today. Temperatures will stay in the 30s all day (3-Degree Guarantee high is 38) and said winds will push wind chill values into the 20s for most of the day. Obviously, you'll need a heavy jacket for this second day of 2008! Also, expect a sun and clouds mix today. Even a stray flurry is possible today, but in general, the cold air we're feeling is too dry to support precipitation so most areas will stay flake-free...
The cold air stays a few days. Tonight, as skies clear, temperatures will plummet. I expect most spots to fall to the 20s by tomorrow morning, but many inland spots will dip into the upper teens! Thursday will have mainly sunny skies but temperatures will only climb into the 30s for afternoon highs. Thursday night will feature more inland teens and low 20s with sub-freezing temperatures likely for the Crystal Coast and Outer Banks, too.
Temperatures will start to rebound Friday afternoon - highs in the 40s - and then climb even more sharply this weekend. Saturday and Sunday's highs will approach 60 and I expect highs in the mild mid 60s early next week!
