West Coast faces stormy weekend

(AP) - An arctic blast pounding the West Coast is expected to bring heavy snow, rain and winds to California today.


Some Southern California residents are rushing to protect their homes from potential mudslides.


The system is packing hurricane-force winds and forecasters have issued a rare blizzard warning for mountain areas.


In Florida, a citrus industry spokesman says Mother Nature cut growers a break. Crops are safe despite a cold snap that brought temperatures in the Sunshine State down to the high 20s.
