Hi, I'm Storm Team 9 Meteorologist Scott Sumner. What a difference a few days can make in this flip/flop weather pattern that we just cant seem ourselves to get rid of. After extremely cold temps late last week, we go to possible record warmth in the Tarheel State this week!!! Starting with tonight...overnight lows will drop back into the mid 40s and with plentiful sunshine on Monday, a southwest wind direction and a strong ridge of High Pressure aloft, it will feel like summer here with highs in the lower to middle 70s. Tuesday will feel the same, with afternoon highs possibly even a few degrees warmer and a good amount of sunshine. By early Wednesday a front will cross the East and stall along the coast, giving us the potential for a few light scattered showers, with the return of some more showers on Thursday as the front then lifts north, keeping us with a mostly cloudy day. Wednesday and Thursday daytime temps will fall back into the 60s, still way above the normal lower 30s that would usually be felt during early January. Looking forward to next weekend, cooler temps look to come back to the East as well as some more significant rains.
