HOLIDAY, Fla. (AP) - Florida is the target of the latest round of severe weather, with at least one tornado spotted northwest of Tampa.
But officials say they know of no injuries or serious damage from the line of storms that swept through Pasco and northern Hillsborough and Pinellas counties this morning. High winds ripped shingles off roofs, uprooted trees and forced the evacuation of some school children in trailer classrooms.
A twister was seen near Holiday, about 30 miles northwest of Tampa.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 20 Florida counties until this afternoon.
Yesterday, heavy rain and strong winds hit Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky and Florida. Toppling trees killed one person each in Tennessee and Georgia, and injured two people in northern Florida.
