UNDATED (AP) - Residents in West Texas have been walloped by waves of strong storms.
Stretches of Interstate 27 in the Panhandle had to be temporarily closed because of high water. And power lines fell in Howard County.
Firefighters in the small town of Tulia had to rescue people from stranded cars.
Crews even pulled out snow plows and road graders after the first wave of storms moved through Tulia and pounded the town with hail that blocked culverts and backed up the water on I-27. A Tulia police dispatcher says "It was just like an ice jam."
Storm spotters reported tornados. But there's no word on damage.
More rain is possible on Friday, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms forecast in the Lubbock and Amarillo areas.
