FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Police say one of two boys playing catch in a thunderstorm is dead after lightning struck.
The incident occurred as a series of severe storms battered parts of Virginia Wednesday, flooding roads and knocking out power.
A witness tells a Washington television station (WJLA) that his son's baseball team was playing a game near Fredericksburg when someone reported lightning and umpires cleared the field. But Frank Albright says a couple of players hung around playing catch near left field, where the lightning hit.
Albright says a pair of nearby nurses administered CPR, but police say one boy died. There's no word on the other.
