GREENVILLE, N.C. - Warm weather fans need not cringe over Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of 6 more weeks of winter.
Storm Team 9 meteorologist Gannon Medwick shows us just how wimpy this winter has been.
When we think winter, we think cold. But that hasn’t been the case for much of this winter.
Comparing this winter’s number to last year’s, we’ve had 20 days with a temperature above 65 degrees. That’s compared to just 4 days last winter.
As for sub-freezing nights, last winter had a whopping 51 of them to this point. This time? Only 9!
The lack of cold is frustrating snow lovers, but it has helped us all save on heating costs.
In early February, average daytime highs are low 50s and the average nighttime lows are low 30s. Temps are likely to stay above those marks for the next several days.
